Next Harry Potter Movie: A Satisfying Conclusion to Credence's Origin Story

The latest installment in the Fantastic Beasts series, 'The Secrets of Dumbledore,' marks a significant milestone for fans of the beloved franchise. With its promise of satisfying plot progress and heartwarming conclusions, this movie delivers on both fronts.

One of the most notable aspects of the film is its focus on orphan Credence's (Ezra Miller) origin story. The piercing narrative provides a genuine sense of closure as it explores his past and wraps up long-running romances with real emotional depth. The street-shaking CGI-crammed action showdowns are toned down, but there's still plenty to get excited about, including an Indiana Jones-style prison cavern escape that showcases Newt's (Eddie Redmayne) magizoological prowess.

While the beasts take a backseat in this installment, the film makes up for it with its powerful and distinctive parallels between Grindelwald's (Mads Mikkelsen) manifesto and the rise of the Nazis. Eddie Redmayne's twitchy Newt now bears an uncanny resemblance to Harry Potter, repeatedly sent by Dumbledore to fight a world-threatening villain.

However, the team-tackles-worst-wizard storyline is starting to feel over-familiar, not just from 2018's 'Crimes of Grindelwald' but also in general. Mads Mikkelsen brings a chilling understated ruthlessness to Grindelwald, making him an excellent successor to Johnny Depp's white-haired whisperer.

The movie's climax features Newt and his useful but overcrowded band from the previous film - wizard-cop Theseus (Callum Turner), charms professor Lally (Jessica Williams), undercover expert Yusuf (William Ladylam), beast-helper Bunty (Victoria Yeates), and baker Jacob (Dan Fogler) - racing against time to thwart Grindelwald's plan. This time around, Dumbledore is openly grappling with his historic relationship with Muggle-warmonger Gellert Grindelwald, who is now threatening the wizard-leadership elections with a power grab.

Overall, 'The Secrets of Dumbledore' provides a satisfying conclusion to Credence's origin story and wraps up some long-standing plot threads. While it may not be as visually stunning or action-packed as previous installments, it makes up for it with its powerful themes and emotional depth.
